The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid

The Toyota Prius may be the most well-known hybrid model in their lineup, but it's far from the only one. The RAV4 Hybrid brings the same terrific design principles Toyota used to make the Prius and transforms the RAV4 into an efficient and powerful compact SUV.

Hybrid Powertrain

It's in the name, so what makes the hybrid engine worth it? You'll get some extra power from this engine compared to the standard gas one, generating up to 219 combined horsepower, and the electric motors help accelerate the RAV4 Hybrid to 60 mph just over a half-second faster than the gas model.

One of the other big advantages of a hybrid model is the fuel economy, and this hybrid SUV won't disappoint Turlock drivers. You'll be driving 41 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway thanks to regenerative braking.

An Exterior to Impress

While the RAV4 Hybrid maintains the strong look of the gas-engine version, it adds some enhancements. On the RAV4 XLE Hybrid, the multi-LED headlights get upgraded to LED projector headlights, and the LED daytime running lights gain accent lighting to give you a distinct look around Tracy.

A standard feature on the RAV4 Hybrid is the Vehicle Proximity Notification System, or VPNS. This is used to alert pedestrians to the vehicle's presence, particularly those who are blind or visually impaired. VPNS will emit a sound when operating in electric-only mode, traveling at 15 mph or less, and not in park.

Comfort from the Start

When it comes to comfort, the RAV4 Hybrid offers a dual-zone automatic climate control system standard. You can keep warm or cool any time of year in Stockton, even in the RAV4 LE Hybrid. Plus, you'll still get the same fantastic adjustable seats, all the way up to the SofTex-trimmed front seats with eight-way power-adjust for the driver's seat and two-position memory.

The Toyota RAV4 Prime

You'll feel right at home in the plug-in hybrid version of the classic RAV4. Not only does it have everything you could want from the RAV4 SUV in it, but the Prime brings the flexibility of plug-in hybrids to the table.

Plug-In Hybrid Performance

It should be no surprise that the RAV4 Prime's plug-in hybrid engine is extremely impressive. It can produce a combined 302 horsepower for a 0-60 mph time of only 5.6 seconds. That power translates to towing, too, with the capability of towing up to 3,500 pounds compared to the 1,500 pounds of the standard RAV4. The RAV4 PRIME does all of this while still going a combined 38 mpg around Manteca. When it's on electric power alone, it can drive for 42 miles before needing the gas engine to kick in.

Prime Technology

This enhanced SUV has a few tricks up its sleeve that you won't find on the RAV4 or RAV4 Hybrid. A bird's eye view camera is available for navigating tight parking spaces on the RAV4 Prime XSE, and you can also get a 10-inch color Head-Up Display. This will allow you to see your speed, navigation arrows and drive mode in the periphery of your vision while you keep your eyes on the Modesto roads.

The infotainment system also gets an upgrade. While the RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid use either a seven or eight-inch touchscreen, the RAV4 Prime has an eight-inch screen on the Prime SE and a nine-inch screen on the PRIME XSE.

Hybrid Warranty

Whether you get the RAV4 Hybrid or the RAV4 Prime, you'll be getting a hybrid system that's built to last, and Toyota is willing to back that up with a fantastic warranty. Both hybrid systems get an 8-year or 100,000-mile powertrain warranty, while the hybrid battery gets 10 years or 150,000 miles under warranty.
